Naginata for beginners By mastering how to operate Naginata you can understand the essence of Bujutsu and accordingly realize what Bujutsu is.

Since the old days Naginata has been recognised as the most powerful weapon because of its huge size. In this DVD the essential points of Naginata's operation is explained. Although Naginata is big but one must handle it in a small motion which is the most important essential point. You can learn Yagyu Shinto-ryu Naginata which was originated by master YAGYU Hyogonosuke over 400 years ago and Shizuka-ryu Naginata which was taught to lady Shizuka by general MINAMOTO Yoshitsune in 12th century, both have been transfered in Shunpu Kan in Nagoya. At the end of the DVD there is a performance of master KATO Isao, representative of Shunpu Kan, by which he showed quite valuable essential techniques.

Master AKABANE Tatsuo
He learned Yagyu Shinkage-ryu, Enmei-ryu and Owari Kan-ryu Sojutsu (spear) from master KATO Isao of Shunpu Kan in Nagoya. Now he organizes Shinkageryu/Enmei-ryu practicing group and teaches those Bujutsu in Kamakura, Yokosuka, Fujisawa, Yokohama and Seijo as a representative of Shunpu Kan east Kanto branch.
